Spam is the use of electronic messaging systems to send unsolicited bulk messages indiscriminately. While the most widely recognized form of spam is e-mail spam, the term is applied to similar abuses in other media: instant messaging spam, Usenet newsgroup spam, Web search engine spam, spam in blogs, wiki spam, Pinterest spam..
Pinterest Spam??
Yes, Pinterest, the new hit social network was used (and still is) by a Spammer called "Steve" to earn $1000 a day by automatically posting Amazon Ads onto Pinterest from thousands of bot accounts.
Steve (he claiming to have three associate degrees in aviation and an FCC license.) said he has distributed spam via Twitter and Facebook in the past, but neither of those social networks compares to Pinterest in terms of the ease of spamming.
Well, if you are a Pinterest user, be ready for more spammers and cybercriminals because they will be tempted to exploit the site soon.
